Overview
FD Bakery is a standard Chain Store business on the east coast. The parent company has the factory and central kitchen set in-house, handling most of the goods/inventory and then delivering to the stores every day. In the past 30 years, they manually handled their inventory and customized cake orders.
Initially, they had tried some customized software to improve the process but their needs had never been truly fulfilled. After I went over to those stores in person, I discovered one of the main reasons behind their difficulties to migrate to existing digital solutions - They hire a lot of Asian elder laborers from the community, who barely know how to operate computers and struggle with English. So, the new system has to be Elder-Friendly and multilingual, otherwise, it would cause the company a lot of overhead, and continue to worsen as the business grows rapidly.

My Role
As a product manager, I also managed B2B relationships with specific clients. My goal was to create a win-win product and make sure that it benefits both sides. In this case, I initiated the implementation of the bilingual SaaS POS in the stores. Then we designed the new module “Order Manager” and added it to SaaS POS. This has thus become one of the most efficient solutions.
Tasks
My Contributions to the Products
SaaS POS turned out to be an excellent adaptation for the Asian elderly staff with its clean UI/UX interface and multilingual system. This boosted the operation performance significantly.
Overall 80% of store staff felt happy with the new POS system, a sample of 50% of the stores.
Saved almost 50% of time and labor costs for the parent company on handling a daily basis. (No more pen and paper!)
The solutions satisfied not only their short-term requirements but also the long-term strategy for FD Bakery.
